Source material for Cut Out is photographic imagery of gates and fences taken throughout my travels. The pearlescent glittery copper forms represent the sunset sky and new horizons. Blue macrame bags symbolize movement, and travel. The final piece references a boundary of sorts while also representing the complicated history of class structure. Portland is associated with exchange and movement while also being a city which recently has experienced the complex and problematic issues associated with extreme gentrification.
